64/365 Enger Tower

15 Jul

We went “to dulut” today. (According to the story, an elderly Finish lady got on the bus at Floodwood and asked the driver, “Does this bus go to Dulut.” The driver replied, “No ma’am, this bus goes beep beep.”) Dad had seen on the local news that the city had done some major work on Enger Tower, a monument built to honor Mr. Enger from Norway and a citizen of Duluth; and he wanted us to visit there on our trip to Duluth today. If we had gone to the tower and climbed its steps for a view of the city closer to four, we would have been able to see the city; but at one thirty in the afternoon the fog was still thick and the views very limited.
