233 / 365 project : Tehachipi loop

31 Dec

One of the marvels of the engineering world is the Tehachipi loop, a .73 mile spiral in the railroad line build by the Southern Pacific Railroad and first used in 1876. My lovely suggested a New Year’s Eve day trip to Tehachapi for goodies at the German bakery and a drive out to watch trains. This Union Pacific consist of automotive carries headed by the Rio Grand paint schemed UP1989 could have circled the loop at least twice.
